Diversity Spectrum is
proud to announce that the
Association for Women’s Career Development in Hungary will present to the Honorable
Lynn Gardner Heffron, Co-founder and President of Diversity Spectrum Corporation, the “For Women’s
Equality” Award in a celebration ceremony to be held in the Hungarian
Parliament on May 21 2009. Andrea Ferenczi, Founder
and President of the Association for Women’s Career Development in Hungary, will present the award.
Other recipients of this year’s award are Mrs. Iren Dunai, head of the
Department of Labor and Social Affairs of Hungary, and the Honorable Mrs.
Annette Lantos.
The Award for Women’
Equality was founded by the Association for Women’s Career Development in Hungary to honour the “2007 – European Year of
Equal Opportunities for All”. Every year the Award is given to three persons of
excellence who have done the most to help promote the issue of gender
equality and have provided substantial support for the realization of the
objectives set forth by the Association of Women’s Career Development in Hungary.
Previous
recipients include the Honorable April H. Foley, U.S. Ambassador to Hungary, the Hnorable Dr. Zita Gurmai, Member of the European
Parliament, the Honorable Vladimir Špidla, European
Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, and the Honorable Edit Rauh,
Under-secretary of State for Equal Opportunities, Ministry of Social Affairs
and Labour, Hungary.
In addition to receiving this distinguished award, Ms. Heffron will deliver a
keynote speech at the event and address the advancement of women’s workplace
initiatives in the United States and President Barak Obama’s impact to date on
these issues.
The Association
for Women’s Career Development in Hungary undertakes to carry out the following stated activities
with the voluntary contribution and co-operation of its members:
- Drawing up and publishing statements involving women's equal
opportunities issues.
- The development of strategies and programmes for Equal Opportunity.
- Training for Equal Opportunity.
- Training and consultancy for HR leaders of the profit and non-profit
sphere, the public administration area and the law-enforcement, security and
military field.
- Training and consultancy for women mayors and civil organization leaders
in order to improve the efficiency of their lobbying capabilities.
- Organization of conferences and trainings.
- Publishing training materials and books.
- Operation of internet-based Hungarian and international trainer and speaker database.
- Assistance in solving employment problems for women above 40 and young
mothers returning from maternity leave.
- Assistance in improving home-office, location-free jobs and distance
work opportunities.
- Assistance in integration of women belonging to ethnic minorities and
immigrant women in the employment market in order to help them overcome
negative discrimination.
- Assistance in integrating women with disabilities in the employment
market in order to help them overcome negative discrimination.
- Development of international networks for Euro-Atlantic cooperation.
- Operation and development of internet networking opportunities.
- Consultancy in professional orientation, job-seeking, career development
and employment services.
- PR and HR strategies for Women's Equal Opportunities Programs.
- Cultural and sport programs.
- Foundation of awards and execution of surveys.
- Forming of regional, professional, partner, EU and UN sections to the
goal-oriented fulfillment of the mission of AWCDH

About the Recipient
Lynn Gardner Heffron is Co-Founder and President of Diversity Spectrum Corporation. Lynn
manages Diversity Spectrum’s advisory & consulting services,
business development, marketing & sales, media production, and
events. She also chairs the Diversity Spectrum Executive Diversity
Council.
Lynn
most recently served as Vice-President for The Public Affairs Group
where she focused on developing Diversity Best Practices, a
membership-based organization of Fortune 500 and not-for-profit
companies. She helped to grow membership and build and enhance
diversity programs in multiple industry sectors including finance,
manufacturing, computing,construction, utilities, and entertainment. Lynn’s
leadership extended to providing consulting services, planning and
facilitating business sessions and conducting web-based seminars on a
range of diversity topics. She was also a co-writer of the publication The Diversity Primer.
Previously,
she served as Managing Partner of The Dumbarton Group, LLC, a boutique
advisory firm specializing in accelerating the growth of small and medium-sized
companies that offered a range of risk mitigation products and
services. Prior to founding that group, she was Vice-President of
Business Development for Athenium, Inc., a software company
specializing in collaborative communications, eLearning, and 21st
century instructional strategies.
While
serving as Vice-President of Professional Development for the Lockheed
Management Association, she initiated “Think Tank” seminars for
Lockheed Vice-Presidents and managed training programs for over six
thousand members. As an Engineering Project Director at Lockheed, she
pioneered the visionary “Engineering Office of the Future” initiatives,
which ultimately led to the corporate-sponsored “Company of the Future”
for which she received multiple awards in excellence and leadership.
Lynn is a seasoned training executive who has served as adjunct professor at University of California, Santa Barbara and Santa Barbara City College. She also founded the Executive English Institute, which specialized in advancing business English skills of global executives from Brazil, Switzerland, France, Germany, Japan, China, and other countries.
In February 2008, Lynn was the guest speaker at “The Best Workplace for Women 2007” award ceremony in Budapest, Hungary hosted by the Association for Women’s Career Development in Hungary. And
most recently she was moderator of a panel on “Diversity and Higher
Education” for the Conference Board. She has spoken on a broad range of
topics including “Global Diversity Leadership,” “Mentoring,” “Resource
Groups,” collaborative e-Learning initiatives, the integration of
technology into blended learning solutions, “Biological and Chemical
Terrorism” and “Biodefense Preparedness – National, State, City, and
Private Sector.”
Lynn is an experienced film and video producer and writer, and has spent two years on international film co-productions in Paris and Rome. She has served as a judge at environmental film festivals, and been active in bringing independent films from Namibia and South Africa to USA film festivals.
